Servicing Gas Appliances
Regular servicing of Gas appliances helps ensure that the appliance is functioning correctly.
From a safety perspective this can ensure the appliance is not leaking gas or carbon monoxide. While functionally it can help optimize performance, improving energy efficiency and prolonging its service life.
In the case of a new installations:
- Testing the appliance in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction, including and not limited to:
- Gas tightness test.
Heat input and/or operating pressure are correct. - The effectiveness of the flue.
- Satisfactory provision of ventilation.
- The correct operation of all safety devices.
- Cleaning of condense trap.
- Cleaning of Magnetic Filter and/or Strainers.
- Water quality check.
- Initial combustion analysis (determines action required).
- Full strip down of burner and clean if required.
- Final combustion analysis and measurement against tolerances set by the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Functional testing of heating and hot water system.
- A visual inspection of any other encountered gas appliances.
- Testing of heating controls and best practice advice regarding energy efficiency.
- Written notification of any gas safety defects and remedial advice.
